i'm a stranger in the day

PICTURES: courtesy of my cousin Jonathan in Scotland, he recently graduated as a photographer and does really awesome photography - being in Europe usually just gives him more interesting pictures in general but it had been awhile since I had talked to him and looked at his website and found a lot of really great shots so I think my next couple posts will be photos he has taken, but i couldnt choose just one to share this time.
Listening to: Norah Jones - Turn Me On. for some reason I used to think I hated Norah Jones and I dont know why because she has really beautiful music and its really calming, its great to do homework too. (which i always need mellow music for.)
Watching: hollywood squares. (dont ask me how or why im watching TV, Listening to music AND blogging. not to mention also Facebooking.) I love the GameShowNetwork (GSN) its all the old gameshows (pyramid, regis millionarie, jeopardy) and they are totally dated but still so interesting to watch. I love millionarie when it was with regis.
Complaining: I have the worst back pains lately, I have this horrible knot in my back, my uncle (hes a physical therapist) taught me a trick to get rid of knots but its hard to do by yourself so it helped a little but not the way its supposed to. i want to see if i can get a doctors note for a massage, i dont see why i couldnt i feel like its completely valid for someone with lupus. i want a physical therapist massage anyways (not like gene juarez) i'm just hoping the insurance will pay for it, that would be sweet :)
annoyance: our ondemand has never worked with our digital cable so the cable guy came today and we ended up finding out we cant actually order anything from ondemand unless we have a landline phone - what the hell?? this makes NO sense, i've had digital cable before and always only had my cell phone. the guy didnt really seem to know why this is a "rule" i really hope it somehow has to do with communications (like the wiring) because otherwise its really stupid, people would spend so much money ordering movies and programs they are loosing out.
Eating: nothing right now but i made hamburger pie tonight that was improvised with what little food we had in our fridge it wasnt too bad, i was hungry so i ate it. haha.
drinking: good ol' h20, i feel really bad because I really believe in sustainability and green living but when it comes to water bottles i drink so much more of it if its in a disposable bottle. I have tried buying water bottles i never like them (i think it has to do with how the water comes out of the bottle.) but its bad to reuse the disposable bottles (something about the plastic...) BUT i much prefer to drink more water. I drink a minimum of 3 bottles and most days I ONLY drink water (i barely touch diet coke anymore! even at restaurants i've been good!)
okay the blog part.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just had the weirdest day of doing the strangest things all day. So I'm not a stranger in the night the way Franky sings about it but a Stranger in the day for acting so strange.

1. I woke up at 9am.
2. I cleaned the whole apartment before noon
3. I cooked a real breakfast (hashbrowns and eggs with my lovely cocktail of morning pills)
4. I ran out of things to do after I ate and cleaned that I started deep cleaning (not just wiping down the counters and putting away clothes, i pulled out the bleach and organic cleaner!)
5.well by this time the cable guy comes which is always really awkward to me, so i randomly decided to find things to do in my kitchen so I started cleaning our stove top (took out all the grills and soaked the little round things that catch your food that always get really dirty.)
6. for some reason we have like 4 different sets of salt and pepper shakers. I have these hula dancing ones I bought when I moved out on my own the very first time, we have these ones left over from xmas, we have these ones I stole from the dennys in vancouver and then we have what the salt and pepper comes in when you buy it from the store. so i combine all of them together and get this - I WASH AND CLEAN every single salt and pepper shaker. NO IDEA why.
7. I realized we have had the same bag 10lb bag of potatoes in our cuboard since we moved in, it had grown so many sprouts it was grossing me out so I decided to peel, and chopped ALL the potatoes, I chopped them into French Fries, Scalloped Potatoes and HashBrowns and now they are all frozen in our freezer, i'm not sure if it really works this way but I figure thats pretty much what they do when you buy frozen potatoes anyways, we will see how it ends up working out...
8. I cleaned my bathtub with bleach. while i was in it on my way out of getting out of the tub. nakey and bleach apparently scream "clean!"
9. I reorganized my tupperware, the tupperware we dont use.
10. i dusted inside my closet. there wasnt really any dust in there.
11. i didnt vacuum. I vacuum almost everyday and the one day I go cleaning crazy, I don't vacuum.
I can't believe I ended on number 11.

Things I'm Grateful For

picture: i wish i could take credit for this picture because its SO clever! I just posted it cause I think its hilarious I dont even remember where I found it, somewhere online. I think I want to do a photoshop series with ideas like this.

What I'm doing: Sitting on my bed with the dogs listening to my IPod, I have a lazy day today so I'm just relaxing

What I've done so far: I cleaned the apartment, called tech support for my computer (was on the phone for 2 hours but it was totally worth it.) and fixed my carpet that is in my bedroom. pretty productive!!

excited for: i'm going to sushi tonight with my friend Stephanie, I'm obsessed with this sushi restaurant by my house, its like 2 blocks away, super cheap during happy hour and is fabulous. I am obsessed with sushi.

drinking: water. bottled.

eating: absolutely nothing but I think thats going to change when I finish posting this blog.

listening: Peter Frampton - Baby I love Your way. what a classic. I was defintiely born in the wrong era.

thinking: wow i have really bad posture right now, my neck is killing me. i have no shifted my posture after I typed this outloud. can you type outloud? I like to think so.

happy about: i'm having like a fabulous hair day. I'm really happy about it! haha (you'll see below I talk more about this. haha)

loving: Office quotes, I now have standing jokes with my friends when we will randomly text each other quotes from the office and since we are all such big fans we know its quote and its a game where you have to send another back

some of my favorite office quotes lately:

"I have eaten so much left-over guacomle over the years, I dont even know why I make it in such large quanities"

"in the islands they dont make you do stupid things like inventory"

"fun fact. I share a birthday with Eva Longoria, so if i ever met Teri Hatcher i'll have the perfect ice breaker"

"i want people to be afraid of how much they love me"

"sometimes i start a sentence and i dont even really know where its going i just hope ill find it along the way"

Okay here we go. the blog. A list of things. superficial things.

1. technology. Its a love/hate relationship (mainly only when it fails) but it truly is an amazing thing and everything we can now do with technology is beyond amazing. I've been having trouble with my computer lately so I called the HP tech support today and they take over your computer (so they are controlling your screen its really cool) and the guy goes "You know I'm controlling your computer from India right now? Cool, Huh?" haha but he was so right.

2. hair product. I really dont normally use a lot of hair product but right now with my prednisone/steroids making my cheeks all puffy i need my hair curly and big to help balance out my face and I put some curl cream (from bumbleandbumble) in it last night after I showered, Put it in a little bun went to bed and today i'm having a fabulous hair day! I will also say in addition to hair product I love hair...what would you call it. tools? like my hair straightner.

3. vacuum cleaners. I love to vacuum, and it always disgust me when I empty the little bucket of all the grim and dust but then i think "thank god i have the vacuum to pick it up" but its why I truly DISPISE carpet. I think all carpet should rot in hell its the worst thing on our planet (dont get me started even further.)

4. student discounts. I think student discounts should be EVERYwhere, and they pretty much are and I think its completely valid. I hate AAA discounts and senior citizen discounts (totally support military though) but we are students I think computer programs and museum admissions, things that are going to help us study should totally be there for us, especially since everyone knows students are broke.

5. Email. this kind of goes under technology but its just so a great thing to know that I can email my cousins in scotland, for free, and keep in great contact. Email has connected my life more than a telephone even has. facebook is truly falling into this same category though, its a great thing as well. I keep waiting for it to die off the way Myspace and AIM did but I think facebook is here to stay (myspace and AIM were definitley an age thing so I think since facebook is truly all ages it will last)

6. online banking. technology yet again but oh what i would do without online banking. it has saved me so many times and you can transfer money through accounts with the click of a button and pay bills its so nice. and everyone says you have to keep a check register (you older generations) BUT like the time my sister had my debit card on her and ended up accdientially using it at the bar one night, she wouldnt have told me she used it because she didnt know till the next morning when i checked my account online LOL

7. the democratic party. I dont have a whole paragraph to write about the DNC but I just know I'm grateful for them, I feel like their heart (most of the time) is always in the right place and to me, sometimes, thats all that matters.

8. chapstick. I dont think I need to write a whole paragraph about this either because I think its pretty self-explanatory. I like my lips un-chapped.

9. music. yet another I dont need to explain.

10. colors. I dont know what I would do without colors, I am a very colorful person metaphorically but I also just love colors in general they are such a wonderful way to express yourself and can make the biggest differences aesthetically. its definitley a good thing I'm studying design and colors : )

Honest Love Letter Part Three

I bite my nails
I say curse words
I procrastinate
But I also plan far in advance
I pretend to be spontaneous
But I truly really like to pencil things in my planner
I stress when im running late
And I stress when im really early
I hate when I forget to bring a book
It takes me months to ever finish a book
I text, email, and facebook more than I talk on the phone
I like it this way.
I laugh at inappropriate things
And I laugh at inappropriate times
I won’t do something just because you want me to
But I probably will if you ask me nicely
I think Ray LaMontagne has a sexy voice
James Franco has a sexy face
And Jon Stewart has a sexy mind
I love my dog more than life itself
And he loves me just as much in return
I love Sudoku, FreeCell and Spider Solitaire
And one day I will finish a crossword puzzle on my own
I wish I had a MAC laptop
Microsoft sucks
I don’t think I could write a paper without Word correcting my grammar though
I can type really fast
You might be impressed
I love sneezing
I think it’s the best thing in the world
I love colors
Probably because im a colorful person
And from here on out
I’m going to just be making more colors
Here’s to the color of Kylee.

because sometimes blogging is better than stressing.

Menu of the day:

listening to: batman begins on cable, my sound isnt working on my laptop to listen to my Itunes and my IPod is in the car (which my sister has) I feel empty right now because I could really use some Ray LaMontange

I always forget how much I love Ray and then I see/hear that commercial for some insurance company where a dog is trying to find a safe place for his bone and they are playing "trouble"

drinking: water. I just flossed my teeth and i'm really weird and love cold ice water right after I brush or floss my teeth. I also actually love to floss my teeth but I havent always done as much as I needed to, my mom got me a ridiculous amount of floss so now I have it everywhere (i think I litterally have 5 little boxes in my bed alone) so I floss all the time now.

eating: I am quite proud of myself, the prednisone hasnt overcome me, I woke up around 10am (and couldnt eat till noon because of another medicine) and at noon I had a bowl of special k cereal, and a yogurt and then at like 3:00 I had a special K snack bar and thats all I've had today! I am starting to feel hungry again but my dad is making some big grand dinner tonight so i'll wait for that, I might have another special K bar

feeling: well now that i've been talking about food. i'm just hungry.

currently doing: getting ready. I actually did my hair and makeup and am quite satisfied but I am having one of those days when I feel like I own no clothes, (even between my wardrobe and my sisters) I have changed my outfit for the 5th time now, I think i'm finally good with what im wearing now, though. I'm going home this weekend and going to a party tonight (a going away party for my sisters boyfriend wisdom teeth LOL)

things on my to-do list: homework homework homework. The problem is that none of my homework has offical due dates, its all work in progress stuff. but I did finish writing my essay on Socrates' Unexamined Life, my computer actually shutdown right after I finished but thank god for autosave! I recovered the whole thing! I am quite proud of the paper though, I tied it into the loss of my cousin and his unexamined/examined life. sometimes I can surprise myself with my writing. My problem is that I write exactly how I talk and I talk fast so my puncutation and grammatical errors are not always to snuff. (especially because when I re-read it i'm reading it the way I wrote it) If an english teacher were to really grade my writings they would be bleeding with red ink. I'm big with run-on sentences - which i'm sure most of my blogging friends out there know and hate.

random facts for the day: my fingernails are plum purple and I finally tweezed my eyebrows - i couldnt find my good tweezers and the only thing worse than plucking your eyebrows is doing it with a crappy pair of tweezer. My eyebrows really arent that bad I probably could let me grow out all the way and it wouldnt look that bad, I really just shape them a little. I apparently didnt get the family eyebrows.

current pet peeve: people not taking me seriously enough. Yes, I am an art student but I'm not a total idiot. the problem is, is that I tend to be a little blonde sometimes and I laugh a lot so people usually tend to get the wrong idea about me. sometimes I'm not offended and I laugh along with whatever stupidity I just proved (like when I had a blonde moment at my doctors office and couldnt add and he responded 'its okay you're an art major' lol) but when I generally just don't know a piece of information, I'll ask (because otherwise you just became even more stupid.) and someone judges me for lack of intelligence. It truly does bug me, because I do pride myself on having an intelligence.

alright I think thats all I have to say for the random thoughts popping out of my brain tonight. do enjoy!

headaches and spinal taps there is a story in everything

i could probably write a book about all the things that happen during a hospital stay but i'll stick with blogging for now. i don't think there is going to be real order of how i list these experiences i'm just ramble (and then number them so it seems like i'm organized) i will tell you now i don't feel 100% better (i couldnt even finish the easy sudoku in the paper this morning!) so forgive any spelling and grammar errors. i just had to pause for like 15 seconds on whether or not i was supposed to write "there" or "their" in the previous sentence. haha.

1. spinal tap. NOT cool AT all. they now call it a "lumbar puncture" which is totally bullshit trying to trick you like that, the nurse started to explain it and i said "wha-wha-wait! is that a spinal tap?!" and i said "i've had a bone marrow biopsy, which is worse?!" and she said the bone marrow is WAY worse. well it wasnt, the spinal tap was HORRIBLE i was crying and shaking and they had to give me more novacan during the middle of the procedure (which only takes 10 minutes total or so) but you're really actually wide awake for it you just ball up in the fetal position in your hospital bed and they go to work lol

although, i did realize/find out later that when i got the bone marrow biopsy i was freaking out so bad about getting it that they first gave me a valium before and then started with two shots of novacan (sp) and this time they just did one shot of novacan and that was it.

2. MRI. so i had two cat scans this week, no big deal those arent even that awkward you just lay there. and MRI is basically a better version of a cat scan but once i got in there it was HORRIBLE i HATED it, it was 35 minutes and it sounds like a jackhammer going off the whole time! which definitley didnt help the horrible headache i had been having, and you do feel clausterphobic, in the cat scan you can actually still see outside the machine and see the room. with the MRI all you can see is a sea of white which turns into a blur and makes you feel weird like you've lost your vision. its nothing like on TV, although they do intercom to you "keep staying still, 5 more minutes" or whatever.

3. dog hair brush my mom gets into total "mom mode" whenever im sick, the last time i was sick i was dehydrated and she was trying so hard to make me drink gatorade which i did NOT want since i was so sick and had NO appetite she started making slushies and slurpies and icecream. this time she didnt get as crazy but she would help me brush my teeth in bed and get my cold wash cloths for my neck and head when i got too hott. well we were trying to make me look a little better so she started brushing my hair while i was brushing my teeth and i look over at her and shes brushing my hair with the dog brush!! of which the handle is all chewed up!! she still doesnt seem to think it was all that wrong lol

4. underwear on the same note, not planning on being in tacoma that long i didnt bring extra clothes with me so i had to start wearing my moms underwear in the hospital - which is a story in itself but then she found a pair of my old underwear that i had left at the house that she brought to the hospital but when she pulls them out they were the underwear we tied on my sisters dog as a diaper when the dog was on her period!!!! Mom still said "well they've been washed!"

i should put an exclamier now, that my mom actually does have excellent hygiene these stories just are a small exception apparently lol

5. unique giftsmy cousins came to the hospital the second day or so i was there and i see Brian walking in with this big bag but he doesnt say anything and its not wrapped so i didnt think anything of it but then all of a sudden he pulls it up and its this HUGE (really soft) blanket with tupac on it! it was hilarious, my dad pulled it up and hung it from (that thing that holds your limbs up over your bed if you were in a body cast lol) and it hung in the corner in all its glory lol i found out later that he was on Pacific Avenue and was going to get flowers and it was right next to a smoke shop, so he went in there and got the blanket instead lol

6. my grandparents (jojos parents) are always a kick, we had more stories last time (getting stuck in the elevator, getting lost in the hospital and having to get paged, going to the wrong hospital) but they did show up one day with a big box of chocolate ho-ho's, waffle chips, juice boxes, the list was endless and mostly stuff that i couldnt or didnt want to eat. the juice boxes, although they were good were really high in sugar and carbs and totally not worth it lol - it was the thought that counts though : )

7. oxycodine one night when jojo was hanging out with me while my parents and sister could go to dinner, the nurse suggested 1mg of morhphine to walk the halls (prevent blood clots) and maybe shower - it worked GREAT. i didnt feel loopy and high i just felt normal my headache was completely gone! it was amazing. i got to shower and everything, so yesterday morning i wanted to try and stop taking things intravenously i wanted pill forms of things so i could take them at home if needed so they gave me oxycodine - OMG i FREAKED out, it didnt set in for about 30 minutes but i was SO high and not in a good way, i was scared! i was sweating and having a panic attack and i was like frozen and lethargic - it was horrible! i dont know how rush limbaugh is addicted to it - he's freaking crazy! but i guess we didnt need to know he was hooked on oxycodine to know that.

8. oliver. i like to end on number 10 but i think these stories have been long enough. for anyone who was worrying, although a few complications of oliver being left alone in the house to long at my parents (a whole nother blog to explain) he is doing quite well, he is happy i'm home (and my grandma bought me a dog training book thats excellent to help overcome the seperation anxiety) my mom did take him to the groomers today as a ploy to have him babysat but he is pretty nakey he is no dust mop anymore, i'll post pictures of him soon. but it has now confirmed that he is not as chubby as everyone thought he is kind of lanky! lol

I loved, I hated, and back again.

theres so many famous people out there that I 1.) either used to hate and now love. or 2.) used to love and now hate. here's my list. make sure to share yours!

1. Angelina Jolie. I used to really not like her, I think it was first her hard appearance, she had that tough girl exotic look, and then when the whole Brad and Jen break-up happened I was definitley on team Aniston. BUT the more I watched her movies and watched her in interviews I realized I love her, she is genuinely a really good person, the work she does for charity is so humble, she doesnt do it for fame, she uses her fame to help others which many people don't do.

2. Jennifer Aniston. My the tides have changed, I still love Jennifer but it's very different now because she is in a comparison to Jolie and she doesnt do nearly as much charity work and its not that i'm against it because Angelina does it and she doesnt, I'm against it because she has a lot of money and basically keeps it for herself. I know she does charity she works with St. Judes and a lot of others, but I just know if it was me, and I had money i'd be like Angelina doing so much more for others. (Brad and Angelina were #1 on the list of celebrities who donate money to Charity)

3. Drew Barrymore. I don't really know why I didnt like Drew so much, I think it was from watching her in 'Charlies Angels' I thought she was really white trash, and well she did marry Tom Green. But I have LOVED the movies she has been in lately and shes dating Justin Long which is a big improvement, I love him! but it was mainly an article from Bazzaar that she was in and I just fell in love with her. I don't even remember what the article was really about but I remember she said this one quote "I can't imagine why we all don't want desperatley to take care of each other. We need to be passionately inspired by the fact that we can take our environment and our country back." that just spoke to me on SO many levels.

4. Beyonce. I remember a time when I did like her, I think probably when I was young and she was in Destinys Child but I really CANNOT stand her. I hate that she tries to act so humble and down to earth and then shows up in a dress that is as small as a hand towel. I'd have more respect for her if she was like Samantha from Sex and the City and admitted she loved her body and wanted to show it off. But she tries to act like shes not. I hate her music I think it sounds horrible and like noise. I don't care for her stupid dances and I think her lyrics are a joke. okay enough with that. next!

5. Jennifer Lopez. there was also another time when I really liked J-lo but the more I found out about her, I couldnt stand her. some might be tabloid crap but apparently she has this whole pride of being from the Bronx (ie: "jenny from the block") but she doesnt do anything to help the bronx, nor is she largely supportive of any charity for that matter. I just havent really liked her in interviews she seems very full of herself although I do like the movies she does, they are always fun and lighthearted (Maid in Manhattan, Wedding Planner, Monster in Law) I did hear she tips really bad at restaurants which I think is really tacky when you have money. you don't need to tip more because you have money but you should still be tipping the standards and of course you still have the right to tip vs. on quality of service. I guess possibly this "rumor" started from the reports of a horrible waitress, who knows.

6. Heidi Klum. I used to not like her because I think I thought she was a stuck up model or something but I really do love her now, seeing her in interviews and watching a few episodes of Project Runway, she's really sweet and down to earth and marrying Seal I think says a lot about her (marrying someone for who they are and not their looks)

7. David Beckham. I thought he had to have been full of himself because of the hype of his good looks and the whole coming to America to earn more money thing seemed kinda...bad. BUT I fell in love with him when I read an article on how he denied to be in certain ad's because they wanted him to pose sexy with other famous models his response was "i'm married" and in almost every ad i've seen him in with another person its been him and Victoria, which I think is very cool.

Okay I didn't want to end on 7 but I can't think of any others so...oh well!

people say I'm negative but i'm here to prove i'm postive

I Like...

i'm not naming actors, people i know, tv shows, movies or anything of the sort.

1. turning up the heat in my bedroom so i can sleep with basically no clothes (I would sleep nakey if I didn't live with my sister and she didn't come in my room every morning, haha)

2. walking through the rain (as long as my hair isnt an issue) this is usually best accompanied by really good music, I find Hendrix is a good 'walking-through-the-rain' music

3. reading RealSimple because I love the "new uses for everyday things" even though i hardly ever actually use them because they arent usually things I have laying around my house

4. online shopping even when I don't buy things, its like a weird sense of window shopping but knowing you can put it on a wishlist is a little more satisfying

5. a lot of colors in everything I do although I love the classical look of black and white

6. sushi.

7. chinese

8. prismacolor brand...anything. although I really only use the markers and colored pencils (they have pastels and such things as well)

9. the mastercard commercial (that is previously posted on this blog) with the classical music playing and photos of ordinary things that look like smiley faces, it cheers me up everytime i see it.

10. old gap commercials, I don't like the new ones they are all "cheerleaders"

11. really good cheeseburgers

12. facebook, email and text messaging

13. Ann Saks tile, its SO beautiful. (google it if you don't know it.)

14. diet coke, cherry coke, orange fanta, peach fresca and sprite.

15. massages

16. getting my haircut at Seven7 (hair salon in Seattle)

17. design and art in all forms.

18. Seattle as a whole from downtown to belltown from ballard to freemont from wallingford to pioneer square and so on

19. travel, i just wish i could do it more time and money doesnt allow me to :(

20. movies and music

Lyric or Saying?

WHO SAID IT FIRST?
was it the great lyrics that inspired the saying or
was the song a rip off of a sentence we know all too well?
1. Old Habits Die Hard (Mick Jagger)
2. Blind Leading the Blind (Mick Jagger)
3. Silence is Golden (Frankie Valli)
4. Love Makes the World Go Round (Madonna)
5. A Change is Gonna Come (Sam Cooke)
6. The Best is Yet to Come (Frank Sinatra)
7. Hit the Road Jack (Ray Charles)
8. Kill The Messenger (Jacks Mannequin)
9. Lean On Me (Al Green)
10. You Can't Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones)
11. I'll Be There For You (Bon Jovi)
12. All or Nothing at All (Frank Sinatra)
13. Let the Good Times Roll (Southern Soul)
14. Its a Man's World (James Brown)
15. I heard it Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye)
alright some of them I know are song lyrics first and some of them I know are sayings first but it's still fun! come share your thoughts and your lyrics!
I will say though that the best version of 'Its a Man's World' was by Christina Aguleria during some award show, ironic, huh?

Thing's i'm embarrased of but I won't kick in the new year.

I have a lot of things I'm slightly embarrassed of, but I refuse to kick the habits, okay maybe theres a few I should kick.

I'm embarrassed...

1. that I refer to 'Friends' in my daily life so often it's as if they are my real life friends.

2. that I love watching 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' I know its for the younger than me generation but I find it very entertaining and I always wish I could be a witch like her and just *zap* for everything I want

3. that I sweat and pant walking up some of the big Seattle hills, but before you make fun of me, please tell me you've walked up them because they are not normal hills. I was better before I went home for Christmas, i went out yesterday and it was quite sad. but i'll get back to my place again haha

4. that I buy great books that I'm excited about it and it still takes me way too long to finish

5. that I would rather stay home and watch TV and movies all day cuddled up with my dog than go out. I am a homebody, but I am content out in the world as well. I'm a 50/50 gal, i just don't go crazy being home the way some people do.

6. that I'm a designer that lives in an all white apartment with mismatch furniture. although, its a rental I'm not going to paint because then I have to paint when I move out and i'm NOT going to want to paint when I'm moving and you never know what happens in a year I may be moving I may be staying but eventually I'll have all the accent pieces I want to warm up the apartment with curtains and such. plus i'm a poor college student.

7. that I own SO many movies, some are just really great movies that I wanted to own but I probably wouldnt watch again, unless someone came over and wanted to watch them (ie: Might Heart, Davinci Code, Disturbia, many more)

8. that one of the big reasons I want to continue working with Habitat for Humanity is because the supervisor is really cute. don't get me wrong i'd like it either way but he is a very big positive :)

9. that I love watching Mythbusters. I'm no where near being a science geek but I LOVE that show. even the world war II myths to the corny science jokes and even the somewhat bad acting, they're scientist not actors haha

10. I'm not embarrassed of a lot of things, I can't think of a # 10 but I would like to end on # 10 so enjoy!

Merry Christmas Past, Present and Future

Merry Christmas Past I have a lot of great Christmas memories from my childhood, all the way up to my late teens but I remember some of the funniest things. I remember my dad buying my sister and I a Nintendo64, a present that was clearly truly for him (and which is now solely his, although its been upgraded to a xbox) and I remember my aunt joojoo had gotten us a game for the console so on xmas eve (which is when we do presents on that side of the family) Jo said she forgot the present and she would come over in the morning to give it to us (but it was all just a plan to not spoil our present, so she gave the present to my parents) in the morning when we got the present, and got the present from Jo, I was just upset that Jo wasn't coming over in the morning. LOL I don't think I ever told you about that Jo.

Merry Christmas Present This is going to be a bittersweet Christmas, well not even sweet just bitter. the first Christmas without Josh, and its only been four months. I think what makes it harder is that's when i would have expected to see him. I get sad about it even when I just think about it when I'm in my apartment, but I think when I look around at the dinner table and realize he's not there it's just going to seem so much more real than it ever has. and I'll be sad that he is missing out when we laugh, or have a good memory that gets created. But I have to just think that he is with us, and he will be with us for every Christmas, every laugh and every memory created.

we miss you Josh. we always will.

Merry Christmas Future This one came to me when I was helping my Nannie set up her table for Christmas tonight and I said something that was apparently unheard of and she said "one day when you're all grown up and having your own Christmas dinner you will remember how persnickety and precise I was and you'll understand." and I never thought that one day I could be having my own Christmas dinner at my own house. I still think it will probably be when I'm like 90 because when my nannie someday leaves us, then my mom or one of my aunts will start hosting it and then I'd have to wait for all of them to leave and then I'll be having Christmas dinner for myself and husband and my sister and who knows what else. it somewhat excites me a little. as long as I always have carrot souffle at dinner and hash brown casserole on boxing day morning, I will be happy.

I wanted to add pictures from past Christmases
but I don't have them on this computer
(my old computer crashed last year)
and my parents don't have a scanner
so you're out of luck.

Favorite Commercials of all-time

we always seem annoyed by commercials, but there are some really great ones out there, i limited it to four videos since you will watch them all they are all the best commercials.

i love this commercial, the music, the "happiness" you see in everyday objects its so innovative i love it.

i always loved this commercials its one of the only versions of "love train" i truly love however, i love almost every GAP commercial apart from this years "cheerleading" commercials, they drive me crazy almost as much as those stupid old navy commercials with the mannequins, even in their stores, they dont have picture of people they have pictures of mannequins, broke much?

now i dont JUST love this one because its Audrey, its good music too and her dancing is SO funny its from the movie 'Funny Face' and the full version is even funnier.

i always loved this commercial, it puts a warm place in my heart. :)

ENJOY!

I'm not good at being a twenty-year old

this picture was taken by my friend Eddy Adams, I don't know how he did it but he took a picture of trash and made it appealing. thought i'd share it with everyone :)

as i enjoy thawing out in my bed watching TV, working on homework, relaxing on a saturday night with my two fluffballs of dogs, i realized. I am not good at being 20, and I don't think its really going to get any better, I am going to be sucky at my entire 'twenties' and here is why.

1. i enjoy staying home in bed watching a movie or even re-runs of friends, don't get me wrong i'm not against going out or having a drink but if I didnt have plans already I don't panick to find them, I am so content in my bed.

2. I like to many "old" things. I'm more interested in dead old people than the people who grace our planet today, speaking in celebrity terms of course. but I mean my biggest heroes are Audrey Hepburn who envokes the entire era of 60's glamour hollywood and a 48 year old man who has so much power and security I will never met him, AND shouldnt a girl in her 20's really being crushing on men rather than admiring their politics? but then again I do have a crush on Jon Stewart and Anderson Cooper, its something about that silver hair

3. I prefer diet coke over a beer, glass of wine, or any cocktail almost any night of the week.

4. I don't go to concerts and I don't have a strong desire to do so.

5. I have probably spent a total of 2 years watching hours of Friends, no joke. I'm beyond obessed, i actually refer to incidents that happen in the show as if they are my real friends and real things that happened to me, you will hear me say "its like that one episode of friends..."

6. what else is common of a twenty year old? oh sleeping with so many guys you're essentially a whore. definitley havent done that, nor frat guys. i think thats actually in the guidebook and rules. you have to sleep with a lot of guys in your twenties. I somehow fell off the wagon there.

7. i would prefer having a dinner party and playing games rather than going to a big "kegger"

8. i don't know if theres a real corolation to my age but i treat my dog like he truly is my son and I am his mother, and i do believe there is a connection between us. he understands me, and he talks to me. he is known to have a bad reputation but he does listen to me. i call his name, and he stops walking, when i start to raise my voice he puts his head down because he knows hes in trouble. its a mother/son bond.

9. I prefer RealSimple over People, Cosmo or any other magazine. I also prefer Harpers Bazaar over these as well, they have the best article/interviews.

10. i always want to donate money or time thinking i have it. I read an article in RealSimple about dirty drinking water and how a $30 donation can do so much and i litterally wrote down the website address in full intent to donate money. $30 isnt alot, until i remember that i'm no longer working and i currently have $30 in my bank account and I owe money to my parents. AND its not even this one cause, I want to donate to everything. I spent way too much money on the Obama campaign, I have donated to malarianomore several times, Lupus Foundation, the ONE campaign, and gave money to the american idol cahrity thing they do, i did it for two seasons but not the most recent because i wasnt watching idol that year. all this adds up ALOT for a college student, especially when i really dont work. however, i dont in ANY way feel bad or guilty about doing it, i still dont feel like i do enough.

i believe all of this is a factor as to why I am and will be a horrible twenty-something until the day I turn 30 and I will finally be at "home".

All moved in and nowhere to go

I just moved in this weekend to a new apartment with my sister; a 2-bedroom/2-bath right in downtown seattle, its a great place for the two dogs they have lots of room to run around and the extra space is so nice compared to the old 500SF studio I had before. a view from our balcony at night time, i'm hoping they put lights on these trees out front to give it a nice holiday feel.

the walls are white but not in an annoying boring way, it seems more consistent and just makes the apartment brighter. and once we get more pictures and furniture it will all be colorful and it will work out. i also remember a quote one time "i decorate in white because my friends are all so colorful"

the dogs are having a great time, oliver had his ball-removal surgery so we dont have to worry about puppies but they have a blast together and ash and i switch off walking them together which is actually the funniest thing you've ever seen. however when we tried to feed them oliver just tries to eat all of chloes food and so chloe runs in my bathroom (where i feed oliver) and eats all olivers food

the kictchen has horrible storage, all the cabinets are very skinny so we dont have any cabinets for dishes really so we have most of them above the fridge and then i had a little black wooden hutch that holds alot of the other dishes. but we look like we have TONS of food because the cabinets are so packed.

we have a great little fireplace, and the building pays for the gas so its like free heat! my cousin Brian and his friend Shane hung the picture above the fireplace kind of as a joke but Ash and I really liked it so we left it, we ended up moving the pictures below because they were all family photos and she felt the picture above was "sex" and it made her want to throw up, so we took them off she wants to put a bunch of PBR (cheap beer) cans but I am refusing that idea (she thinks it goes better with the picture) but i said PBR cans would be really tacky and the picture isnt tacky sex, i said to put little tiny tea-lights but then she thinks thats like there is fire going up her crotch -- haha so i guess we'll figure SOMETHING out lol

and here is just a shot of my bedroom with the two dogs, the curtains came out really weird in this photo (i have a really crappy camera) but my window looks out onto the courtyard/pool and we are on the first floor so anyone can look in so i will just keep those curtains closed pretty much all the time. by the way thats my dog oliver on the ground, but thats his tail not his head LOL and thats my sisters dog, Chloe sitting on the bed shes small and blends in with my bedding a little too much lol

I've been a bad blogger lately.

oops, life gets busy and I apparently forget about my poor little blog, I used to always update it at work but now I don't have those 10 hours of nothing to do anymore. I'm actually quite busy! I'm taking a 6-Credit commercial design studio (our classes are normally 3 credits so it's like 2 classes in one.) and its a BIG project, but i'm excited about it i know i will have a great portfolio piece when the class is over but there is just
A LOT to do. our professor is an Architect and his firm is actually renovating the same building, so we have a lot of accurate data and real-life scenarios which is really cool, so i have that (which consumes the main majority of my time.)
then i'm entering into two design competitions (although i will admit i havent even started on the second one but thats okay its not due till June) the one i'm working on is a 1200 SF living/dining room which is actually quite large, we have to design one furniture piece in the room as well. its just different doing a design competition because you want to win but you're not sure if you should do some crazy "out there" design that would really never be built, or if you should do something simple "less is more" like the great Frank Lloyd Wright said but what is too simple? so its a big fight with yourself on what to do.
THEN my sister and I are moving thanksgiving weekend! I'm picking up the keys next week and we will probably start moving a little bit before that on small things but the anticipation is killing me.

alright on to the real blog stuff.

what i'm doing: taking a break from the design world to catch up on the real world i have class in about an hour so I need to wind down so I won't forget to leave

what i'm drinking: simply orange with mango, its Delicious! sometimes i put tonic water in it to give it a little bubbly. i love carbonation lol

recent itunes download: the soundtrack to 'Shall We Dance' (that movie with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez) I really just wanted the song 'Book of Love' by Peter Gabriel (which i have to say is the most rock-and-roll religious sounding name i've ever heard) it was on the season finale for Scrubs and I fell in love and you couldn't purchase it alone, but the soundtrack is pretty good theres only one or two songs I didnt care for and some I really like.

still reading: Howard Hughes book, I barely have time to read it, whenever i do something thats not "design" i feel guilty because thats what i should be working on.

what I need to do (besides design): start going through all the things i dont need for moving. i could even start packing, i totally would but i feel 2 weeks is too early lol i could start organizing though

alright i'm off i feel too guilty for leisurely blogging when i have so much to do I think my "tasks" (in outlook) is literally over 50 and my "tasks" are all actual things i need to do, not things i should get around too. its quite depressing.

yes we can. yes we did. yes he will keep doing.

As the anniversary of the night America changed, the night people danced in the streets, the night I smiled and cried as I drove home listening to Obama on NPR as he won the 2008 presidential election. This anniversary reminds me of the whole campaign I softly forgot about as the days past after his inauguration. It seemed on January 20th 2009 that my job was done and the time I spent on the campaign was more than memorable and as I sat back and let Obama make the good decisions I knew he would make, I always felt satisfied. The critics came in and watched his first 100 days closely, then nitpicked every word he said, passed judgment on him for being human and saying things we all thought and agreed with, just didn’t want our president saying them I suppose. for god sakes the critics, who lets face it are just the republicans, the GOP, the party who put Nixon in office, and furthermore put Gerald Ford in office only to pardon Nixon and leave the nation in question for years, heck decades to come. These same people actually criticize Obama for swatting a fly in a meeting, saying that Kanye West was an asshole when he interrupted Taylor Swifts speech to say “no you shouldn’t have gotten it, beyonce should have.” And for insulting him and saying his daughters got special treatment by getting the swine flu vaccine 2-3 weeks after it became available, even though there were no “droughts” of the vaccine in D.C. these critics make me laugh, they have to dig so deep to make him look bad, to be able to have a negative thing to say about him, and it really all is pathetic. Because I don’t care if he swatted a fly, or said a bad word because what I care about, is what he already did. His campaign was more important than almost anything he can do in office. Its repeated a thousand times to hear about his impressive campaign, the grassroots involvement was something you’ve never seen before, you know the story. But if you weren’t there, maybe you don’t understand. When I look back on the campaign, it was magical time. I stood in lines just to hear him speak, I spent hundreds of dollars to aid the campaign and to be able to wear a button and a t-shirt – and not only to wear it but to hear people say things like “I like your shirt” or “yes we can” when they passed me by wearing it. to be in a stadium full of thousands of people chanting “yes we can” gives you goosebumps, makes you smile, makes you wanna cry, it was something I’ll never forget. To know that I stood in the cold outside safeway to register voters, to know that I was a delegate, and I went to the meetings and I voted not just for Obama but for the people who were going to be there to represent him. To know that when I saw that number on the news for how many delegates he had, to know that I was one of those numbers. That’s something not a lot of people can say, I can truly say that I feel that I had a personal impact on this campaign. And I don’t follow Obama today blindly, although I don’t watch CNN and read the headlines quite as dedicated as I was during the campaign, I feel now that I put the right person in office and I trust his decisions and I trust the man and when he makes a mistake I actually find it endearing because his mistakes have not been those of Truman, Nixon or even Clinton but mistakes of human nature. To know that my president is real and seems less like a sleezy politican, means so much, and entrusts so much to me.

However, to those critics out there who say that he isn’t up to his campaign promises, I like to ask you, what were his campaign promises? Health care reform? Working on our environmental issues? Helping the economy? Building ties internationally? Because all of those issues are being addressed. I don’t want to make the list but you can check http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/rulings/promise-kept/ which is a non-partisan website tracking his campaign promises. But the one thing I want to point out on top of everything is that Obama was also blindsided with issues he didn’t know he was going to have to deal with. Issues that arose with the automobile industry, and the banks and these issues postponed and stalled the issues he had on his campaign platform, and beyond that. He is working for you and he always has been. It has only been a year, just wait and see what he can do in 4 years, and definitely what he can do in 8 years.

words are just words, lets see what mine will mean today.

Words are words lets see what mine will mean today
1. I love my dog, Oliver more than life itself. Everyone was really against me getting a dog since I live in the city, the added expenses that could occur etc etc but all these people who were against me getting a dog were not really dog lovers and I emailed my Uncle Brian and I sent him a picture right before I got oliver and I hadn’t quite told everyone yet (but I knew he would get it.) and I don’t remember the story exactly (you might have to correct me Brian lol) but something about being a poor college student but you had your dog and that was one of the best times of your life. It was awhile ago I don’t remember the story so well haha.

2. Its 3am and I can’t sleep. No reason at all. Although there is a stingy in my big toe on my left foot and its bothering me.
3. I also have a recovering blister on my pinky toe (left foot) a big blister on my heel (left foot) and now this cut on my big toe (left foot.) my left foot is in big trouble right now.
4. I love the show ‘friends’ I can watch every episode over and over and over, no show will ever beat what this show is.
5. I’m no longer working it feels liberating I was so swamped and stressed working full-time and going to school full-time, and I’m taking advantage of the free-time by entering into two design competitions (one is a scholarship but both have cash prizes) and I’m also going to start working habitat for humanity – I’m stoked!
6. I am becoming increasingly inspired by my career choice as each day goes by, my classes this quarter are beyond amazing and I’m learning so much this quarter I feel almost more than I’ve learned the last two years I’ve been here.
7. I do get nervous that by graduating so young starting my career at 21 with no desire to ever own my firm and there wouldn’t really be any promotion in this career field that I might feel trapped later on but I figure that’s when you branch from project to project I someday hope to work on hospitals and I doubt that will happen right away and then I’m going to be a big part of sustainability
8. I was just watching this documentary on HBO about the Obama campaign – that was such an inspiring time, they showed the speech that inspired the ‘yes we can’ video from will.i.am and really the main slogan of the campaign and I was almost reciting along with him and it was just so cool to think that I was there, I was a part of it, I was at the rallys, I stood in long lines, I saw Obama in person twice, I was a delegate although I love displaying all my stuff I’m thinking I want to start boxing some of my buttons up so I don’t loose them. I have some really cool buttons – a lady offered me like $50 for one of my buttons once. (I think it was $50 I feel like I’m exzaggerating but maybe not – jo do you remember that lady?)
9. We found a new apartment that I’m in love with! I cant wait to move just 3 more weeks. It is such a cool apartment, we have a balcony and a second patio that has our own private entrance to the pool and to the parking garage. We have built-in shelves, fireplace and a lot of other cool features. I’m stoked to move
10. Especially since ash snores, earlier I tried throwing things at her but that didn’t do anything, so I poked my finger at her head until it moved but it would just roll back and then I remember she had snore strips but when I found them they were like throat strips (those strips that melt on your tounge) no idea how those work/help but I didn’t try them on her I thought she might choke in her sleep
11. She just laughed in her sleep
12. Oh and earlier just before bed she reminded me about calling the vet to get an appointment for Oliver’s balls to get chopped off (I use the word balls for a specific reason.) she then says “yeah they might ask you to measure them” “what?!” then we both started laughing hysterically
13. I don’t feel good about ending on number 13 but I don’t like 12 any better and this is why Louie/Louie is soo right about the disadvantages of numbering you’re list. Dern.
14. What is the different between dern and darn, seriously?
15. I’m watching ‘friends’ and Rachel has been for a couple episodes now dying for Joshua to ask her out (season 4) and he finally asks her out and she had just agreed to take her boss’ niece out on the same night. This totally sucks, you cant tell your boss ‘no, he asked me out’ but that’s truly the kind of thing that could totally change your life.
16. If you didn’t notice I’m keeping the list going
17. Back to 15, when I like a guy it never really goes away until I try it out – I may stop talking to him and liking him so much but he’s always gonna be someone who pops in my mind when im single
18. I am dying for some sushi, this place in Bellevue is AMAZING they a house roll that has apple in it, which sounds weird I know, but its really good. my friend An took me out for sushi once and he’s from Japan and I’m used to restaurants with the conveyer belts and I can see what im grabbing – and we went to a menu place so I just told him to order whatever cause I didn’t really know – and I think that’s why I really like sushi! Its so adventurous! I will try anything now, I was reluctant at first but I said ‘fine I’ll just try a California roll’ and then I just dug in. anyone who hasn’t tried sushi yet, start with conveyer belt sushi it will totally help you when you see it because it looks delicious and theres always gyoza and non-sushi, non-raw food available
19. We once went to sushi and they had a house dessert that was basically apple pie in an egg roll but we didn’t see the little note/sign and we grabbed though pour teriyaki and soy sauce on it – didn’t taste quite good. awesome idea though.
20. Yay I made it to 20. Which is also my age. Which is also my birthday. The end.

Fashion-Police.

Beware. this will be my first really bitchy post, it will be superficial, a little shallow and even maybe politically incorrect.

I have a HUGE issue with people who do not dress for their body type, I havent really noticed it with guys, usually just girls and thats when its worse.

I know the shorts are cute on the model, the mannequin and even your best friend, but no one wants to see your cottage cheese thighs, and the cute guy you just tried to flirt with, probably would have loved to go out with you if it wasnt for the gross-ness going on south.

when you have really big boobs, you don't need to accentuate them and make them look even bigger. things like tube tops dont look good, cleavage and tube tops are a no. and everyone is just scared the top is going to fall down, but thats probably your thought process, so nevermind.

if you have a belly, its not the worst thing there are alot of things you can wear that can cover it up or make it less noticeable, dresses are great, flowly tops and tank tops are fine. BUT you cannot get away with wearing a really tight low cut shirt thinking all the attention will go to your boobs. we will notice the belly. and it looks gross.

i know your trying to look cute and dressed up by wearing heels. but by wearing strappy sling back heels, you know JCpenny "dress" shows that your supposed to wear to weddings. those do NOT belong with a pant suit.

and heels do NOT belong with any kind of yoga or sweat style pants or shorts. lounge wear requires lounge shoes, flip flops are stylish for this. Victoria Beckham does it, you can too.

one thing that angers me more than anything else. the muffin top. i know the jeans are super cute, they make your butt look high and rock hard, but your not comfortable with your fat hanging out over your jeans and neither are we. wear pants that fit, please and thank you.

i know you want to be "in" when it comes to fashion. skinny jeans are very popular right now, but the one thing thats great about fashion is that they are usually pretty practical when it comes to naming products. the skinny jeans are for skinny people. i can't wear them and neither should you, the skinny jeans are for no-tummy, no-hips, no-butt kind of people. but don't worry because our ass looks better in regular jeans, so show that off instead.

you don't have to be a fashion monger, police or even stylist. when you look in the mirror you shouldnt want to throw up or think "people wont notice that"so follow these few, harsh, guides and no one will know the difference. hide your insecurities, don't flaunt them.

have a terrific day.

I wish i was...

I wish i was...

1. a coffee drinker, they seem to have the funnest time at coffee shops, they really get gratification out of coffee, its sincere when they say "lets grab a cup of coffee..." coffee dates are real to them.

2. a runner, "those" people cough cough jojo cough cough again get so much graitfication out of running, they stay in great shape and the idea always seems like fun

3. someone who worked in greenpeace or the peace corps - i don't have the oppurtunity to do such things, my life is taking me elsewhere but i have a few friends doing it and it just seems so awesome to get to travel the world and make a difference while doing it, ah heaven.

4. someone who was in a real protest like the WTO riots, i would have loved to be there, as scary as it was.

5. someone who bought bread and pastries from the local bakery on a weekly basis. everytime i go into Macrina i think about this, and i do love speciality breads and pastries but i just never see myself really doing it. its probably the poor college kid thing.

6. someone who made real meals. i honestly dont eat meals i eat random meals that are really just larger snacks, even though i can cook.

7. a biker. i want to be a biker SO bad, haha, but i could never be a biker in seattle its so intense and there are so many hills. the bikers are savages.

8. someone who liked tea, tea always sounds so nice and relaxing but i honestly and literally gag when i drink tea. it cannot touch my throat. sad news.

9. someone who could throw together a cute outfit in 5 seconds. but no, it takes me hours to get a cute outfit, otherwise i just look like a bum, which is normally what my look is. haha.

10. 21. now the reason is for drinking, but not in a "i want to buy booze and get faded all the time" I get so upset when i get asked out for drinks and I can't go; work-related things where i can get to know the bosses and maybe progress my future at the company. but no, i have to admit that i'm too young and I can't haha
